Apple pushing out iOS 9.3.1 today to eliminate issue that crashes, hangs and freezes apps

Apple sends out iOS 9.3.1 to fix issue with misbehaving app links

Apple sends out iOS 9.3.1 to fix issue with misbehaving app links

Just the other day, we told you about a nasty bug connected to the iOS 9.3 update which causes links in apps like Safari, Mail, Notes and Messages to stop working. Instead of being taken to the linked site, the app will freeze, crash or hang. For the most part, this issue is limited to those using the Apple iPhone 6s and Apple iPhone 6s Plus, although some with older iPhone models and some iPad users are also complaining about it.

Today, Apple has started to disseminate iOS 9.3.1 (which weighs in at 35.3MB) to everyone who received the earlier iOS 9.3 update. Even the new Apple iPhone SE and 9.7-inch Apple iPad Pro are receiving the update since they both are hitting the market with iOS 9.3 pre-installed. The new iOS build contains a fix that will eliminate the problem with the app links

If you’ve been having a problem with your iDevice since the release of iOS 9.3, the good news is that the Calvary is here. Keep an eye peeled for iOS 9.3.1, which you could receive as soon as today.

Report: Amazon looking for a HERE cut

According to sources inside the auto industry, Amazon is looking to buy a piece of online mapping firm HERE from the consortium of luxury car makers that bought it from Nokia last year. The trio of auto manufacturers, BMW, Audi and Mercedes, are looking to develop driverless cars and need HERE to help it map out roads and routes. Google and Apple are also believed to be working on similar projects using Google Maps and Apple Maps, respectively.

Amazon is looking for a piece of HERE as a way to offer one and two-hour delivery options for its retail customers. The mapping service can give Amazon an edge in figuring out the best route to take to beat the traffic. And having a partner like Amazon could help spread the cost of keeping HERE on the cutting edge of technology, which is an expensive endeavor. Plus, with countless vans making delivery runs, Amazon drivers can provide real-time intelligence on road conditions and traffic.

Besides Amazon, automaker Renault and supplier Continental are said to be interested in taking a piece of the action. There is no word on how much of HERE’s equity might be purchased by Amazon or other potential buyers. Pricing is also unknown at the moment. BMW, Audi and Mercedes  purchased HERE for $3.07 billion from Nokia last August.

This Verizon LG G5 unboxing video is probably the cutest you’ve seen in a while

Usually, unboxing videos are pretty boring, but sometimes it happens that we come across an unboxing we actually enjoy watching. After seeing the Samsung Galaxy S7 being unboxed underwater by T-Mobile, it’s now time to take a look at how Verizon unboxed the LG G5. As you may know, the G5 was launched today in South Korea, and will be hitting shelves tomorrow (April 1) in the US and other markets.

Verizon decided to add a ton of cuteness to its LG G5 unboxing video by allowing a group of adorable puppies to do the unboxing. Now, we don’t know just how tech-savvy these puppies are, or if they care about Quad HD screens, high-end CPUs, and the latest version of Android, but they all seem to be enjoying the whole experience – check it out for yourself below (some LG accessories are also included in the video).

In addition to being released by Verizon, the LG G5 is also launching on AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint. In fact, AT&T and T-Mobile already started shipping G5 pre-orders.
